Purdicom is now a Siklu Distributor

Purdicom signs gigabit wireless backhaul vendor Siklu for WISPs, Super Connected Cities & enterprise

Siklu DistributorWANTAGE, OXFORDSHIRE UK – Purdicom has today announced that it has signed an agreement to become a distributor for Siklu. Siklu is recognised as the leading innovator in the 60, 70 & 80GHz millimetre wave communications field, using a unique ‘all silicon’ design to reduce price and increase reliability.

Siklu DistributorSiklu also announced yesterday that Cisco have added them to their Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Eco System, further enhancing their credentials. With proven interoperability, the Siklu and Cisco combined wireless backhaul solution meets service providers’ requirements for end-to-end activation of quality of service, synchronisation, service level agreements and resiliency. This is accomplished in a small form factor designed for all-outdoor street level deployment or in the last mile.

Purdicom, the UK’s largest independent wireless, cloud and security distributor, has seen a huge growth in demand for gigabit wireless connectivity over the last 12 months and Siklu joins Purdicom’s portfolio of MMW products to answer this demand.

This growth has been fueled by the ever increasing requirement for bandwidth from enterprise, CCTV, and service providers. As the 5GHz bands become more and more congested in urban areas, alternative frequencies are becoming more and more popular, so the company decided to expand their vendor portfolio in this area. The MMW bands (60, 70 & 80GHz) offer large amounts of radio spectrum capable of supporting huge amounts of data.

Purdicom Solutions Specialist, Adam Burgess, said, “Siklu links are capable of providing gigabit wireless connectivity at up to 4km at the lowest possible price point for a 70 or 80GHz product. A unique combination of form factor, functionality and price with a field proven market leading MTBF has put Siklu in the forefront of this growing market. We have seen a huge increase in demand for gigabit wireless, buoyed most recently by the government’s Connected Cities’ voucher scheme that provides up to a £3000 subsidy to inner city businesses wanting high speed internet connectivity. Urban ISPs recognise wireless as being a great way to rapidly connect customers wanting to benefit from this scheme.”

“It’s an honour to work with the team at Purdicom,” said Andrew Westerman, Siklu’s sales Director for Northern Europe. “Purdicom has excellent relationships in the UK and is committed to customer satisfaction. We are excited to have Purdicom as a Siklu distributor.”
